Canada never had a Zero COVID goal. That is ridiculous. The only objective has been to preserve a health care system that cannot deal with surges requiring urgent care. As an economist you should understand that public health care is not based on supply and demand fundamentals, it requires rationing to provide care to those who need it the most. In the past week there have been days in regions within the GTA where people cannot get an ambulance. That is due to a number of factors, which are not only related to COVID, but it is a factor.

As an economist you should also be able to see that COVID has really just accelerated changes in the economy such as remote work and learning, which ultimately would have an impact on commercial real estate and small businesses that rely on people going out to work and school.

Ultimately the point of your article to feed anger and resentment, which keeps a group of people liking and sharing your posts.

Thank you for summarizing the Canadian version of the covid debacle. The “leadership” in our public and private institutions need to reflect on their ignorance, arrogance, greed and self serving focus….the combination of which has got us here. Time for people to show up with integrity and resign for their failures. Many institutions (universities, hospitals, education boards, media etc etc) have ruthlessly failed their prima facie obligations.
